Luke Towers

Full-Stack Laravel Developer

Chaos
Luke and Ian at Laracon 2023

Hey Ian, it's Luke.

You asked, I delivered. Take a quick look at my Hype Sheet and let me know what you think!
It was great meeting you at Laracon last year, hope to see you again this year!

Who Am I?

A Laravel expert

I've been working with Laravel for the past 9 years and loving every minute of it. I've made contributions to the Laravel core and I'm also the lead maintainer for Winter CMS, an open source content management framework built on Laravel. I've also done a lot of frontend development over the years.

A jack of all trades

Over the span of my career I've worked in a wide variety of companies and industries where I've often had to wear many hats, be that a regular web dev, devops / server management, domain detective, customer support, or even flying a plane.

An excited community member

I love to share what I'm learning. I contribute to open source projects like Winter CMS and Laravel, write about my interests on my blog, and speak at user groups and conferences. I'm always trying to make things easier for others and learn from the community.

A well rounded individual

Outside of my work I have a number of different hobbies ranging from flying and gliding, tinkering with my smart home, rewiring my mini-van, and working with youth as an officer in the Cadet Instructors Cadre

A life-long learner

I love to code because I love to build things, but building things takes more than just code. I'm always learning from great designers and developers to improve my skills..

Why UserScape?

What I love about you guys

You guys care about what you do. I've always been impressed by UserScape's commitment to innovation and high-quality development. It's especially important to me to work somewhere that values open source as much as you do and the quality of the people on the team is world class.

What I'm looking for

I want to do my best work at UserScape. I'm looking for an opportunity where I can write code and build products that I'm really proud of while working in a flexible environment where I can maintain a healthy personal life with my two young kids. I believe that UserScape is the best place for me to do that.

What you guys need

You need a versatile Full-Stack Laravel Developer who can navigate both legacy and modern codebases with ease. My experience with PHP, Laravel, MySQL, AJAX/Livewire, and CSS positions me well to tackle projects ranging from debugging complex issues to implementing new features and UI enhancements. My ability to work on both on-premise and cloud-deployed products aligns perfectly with the diverse demands of your HelpSpot and associated services.

How I want to help

I am eager to contribute high-quality code to UserScape, but my ambitions go beyond coding. I aspire to help lead the team through the ongoing conversion of HelpSpot to a fully Laravel-based system, and to implement innovative solutions like AI-powered microservices and advanced customer self-service portals. By leveraging my technical skills and leadership experience, I aim to enhance UserScape’s reputation as a leader in the web development industry and contribute actively to the open-source community.
